Lodge Picnic: We Need You

Lodge Picnic: We Need You

Brethren,
The picnic has moved to Herndon Lodge, same date and time.

We are only couple of weeks away from our Lodge Picnic. The picnic is set for September 10 at Bro Leroy Jackson’s house and although its a great event for all the brethren and families we need help to put it on.

We are in need of brothers who will help out with following:

  • Transportation (the brethren on this team should be able to load and transport tables, chairs etc.) from two locations: Lodge and Bro W.O.’s house and deliver the same to the Leroy’s. Also the items transported should be brought back after picnic completion.
  • Pickup food for picnic (I will purchase the food in advance and store it in lodge. I will work with Bro Greg to determine types and quantities).
  • Grills – We have 1 grill at the lodge – we could use another one.
  • Cooking (brother Greg icon top of this and if you want to help him in this task please contact him)
  • Setup and cleanup
  • Activities and games

Please, if within the length of your cable tow, let me know, no later than the 1st stated in September, which of aforementioned activities you can help with. These are all necessary for picnic to be properly set up.

Also, a quick reminder that myself and Bro Mauricio will hold a quick meeting with all those brethren that are interested in learning about being officers in lodge or becoming officers. This meeting will be before our next stated on September 5 at 6:30 pm in lodge. If you are interested and cannot make the date/time please email either one of us.

Thanks

Winery Tour: Oct. 8

Update: View some photos from the event

There was enough interest out there to support the booking of a bus for a winery tour.   The date selected is Saturday, October 8.   The bus will pull out from Herndon Lodge about 10:15AM and return back about 4:30PM.

The wineries stops will be:

Dry Mill Vineyards and Winery – 18195 Dry Mill Road, Leesburg (703)737-3930

Quattro Goomba’s Winery – 22860 James Monroe Hwy, Aldie (703)327-6052

$60 per person covers the ride, lunch, & winery fees. This should be a fun trip with ample opportunity of fellowship.

The bus only holds 25.  Please get your payment to me as soon as possible to hold your spot (cash or check payable to me only please).

This adventure is open to all Herndon members, friends and family over the age of 21.

July 30th Blood Drive

July 30th Blood Drive

Brethren,

We are moving into that part of the year where rest and relaxation becomes a focus of our attention. Planning vacations and anticipating the “away” time is almost as much fun as actually taking a well-earned rest. We love to take time off. And with the kind of economy we are in and the year we have had, we have more than earned it.

Accidents and illness never take time off though, and because of that there is always the need for a continuous supply of donated blood. Our local blood banks depend upon blood drives and volunteer donors to meet that need. When volunteers don’t come, the needs become critical very quickly. Locally, blood banks seldom have more than a single day’s supply on hand. In the event of a catastrophic accident, that supply would be quickly consumed.

Volunteer blood donors literally all that stand between life and death for accident victims, surgical cases, and people with people with blood diseases. Your donation may actually save a life in our community.

I am also hoping that you will consider becoming a regular blood donor, either whole blood or Automated Blood Collection (ABC) through INOVA I will have information available at the next blood drive.

Our next blood drive is coming up on July 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Once again we will be working with Ashburn-Sterling Lodge 288. I am hoping that you will consider signing up to donate with us on that day. You can make and appointment by going to www.inova.org/donateblood, click on Schedule an Appointment, and use sponsor code 7438. You can also email masonic264blooddrive@gmail.com and let me know you want an appointment!

Thank you for your supporting our blood drive.

351 Kids!

The Brethren of Herndon Lodge in conjunction with the Fairfax and Fauquier Sheriff’s Departments processed 351 children under the CHIP initiative this Saturday at the Herndon Festival.

It was a wonderful day weatherwise for the Festival and for CHIP.  Brothers Varun, Marc Schultze, Rob Martin, and Howie Snowden assisted Brothers Bob Tagg and Joe Higgs at the Festival to help the Deputys process the ID cards.   A great side benefit was that some of the dads present inquired about the Lodge.

The underpinnings at opened the door for the Lodge to be present was our willingness to help with volunteers for the Festival.   This year Brother Schultze worked it out that we provided Marshals for the Festival fireworks on Thursday and Saturday nights.

A big THANK YOU to all that volunteered their time in support of the Herndon Festival activities.

Bob Tagg
