Herndon Happenings

Hello everyone…

The September 2nd stated is tomorrow night (9/19) at 7:30p.

Other upcoming Lodge activities include the Friends Meeting Used Bike Drive on Sunday 9/25 – meet at the Lodge at noon with your bikes to donate.

A called meeting will be held on Monday 9/26.

Looking into October, the first stated on the 3rd we will honor Past Masters and sample the best chili recipes the Brothers have to offer.

Our next blood drive will be on October the 15th.

The DeMolay are looking for some assistance. On Friday the 23rd they will be attending the Eastern State Penitentiary Haunted House – drivers and adventure seekers are wanted. On the 24th they will be participating in the Dulles Plane Pull – donations (recipient is the Special Olympics) or people to help pull the plane (need 15 adults!) are needed. MCHQWA Ball will also be that same night and the guys could use some assistance moving the DJ gear.

The DeMolay are interested in accomplishing a number of Lodge projects related project where some assistance from the Brethren is needed. They are looking for a truck to haul gravel to replace the weed patch behind the Lodge. They need someone to teach them how to repoint the walkway (and perhaps widen it as well) leading from the parking lot to the side porch. They are also interested in repainting the Fellowship Hall. The DeMolay are willing to provide the labor for these projects. They are in need of a Brother to organize, teach, and lead them to complete same. Are you willing to help the Lodge and the Chapter?

Youth Groups at Herndon Lodge

Herndon Lodge has benefit of having two Masonic youth groups meet at the Lodge.

The DeMolay include young men ages 12-21 and provide leadership, Masonic roots, patriotism, and a desire to volunteer along with their fun activities.   The Herndon Chapter won Chapter of the year honors at the 2010 Conclave.

The Job’s Daughters supports young women 10-20 with a Masonic affliation.  They too observe certain rituals in the conduct of their meetings.   Thier major charity is the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE) that provides hearing implements and services to children that could not afford it otherwise.

Consider attending a meeting for both of these groups.   They will be glad to see you.
