Brethren,

Our second month of the year was quite inspirational.  At our first stated meeting, our LEO Wor. Bro. Phil Brooks presented a very interesting program, introducing us to the peculiarities of various Masonic public ceremonies.  This was followed by a stimulating visit from Herndon Chapter of the Order of DeMolay during our second stated of February, when we had the privilege of having two of its original chartered members in attendance, as well as other Senior DeMolays.  This group of young men exemplified for us their impressive DeMolay degree, delivered in a solemn and very proficient manner.  We certainly learned a lot and got inspired by their impeccable work.    The future of Masonry looks bright!

We continued building up the Craft in a constructive manner, raising two Brothers to the sublime degree of MM.  Congratulations to Brothers Justin Matthews and Reginald Vaval – our two youngest Master Masons.

The month of March is now arriving, and we have more enriching activities planned ahead.   On March 4th at our first stated meeting, RW Jon V. Shelton, DDGM for the 4th Masonic District will be conducting his official visit to Herndon Lodge.  We look forward to see him and his team, and to the opportunity of sharing good fellowship with Brothers from throughout the District.   It will be a fun night.

Then, for our second stated meeting on March 18th, we are going to have a York Rite Night, dedicated to learn what other activities, degrees and organizations this branch of Freemasonry has to offer.  Our guest speaker for that night will be RW Don Mc Andrews, well known for his many accomplishments, impeccable ritual and active participation in several Masonic bodies throughout the commonwealth of Virginia.  It will be a very didactic evening not to be missed.

March will also be a month for traveling and collecting Master’s wages, as we are planning to conduct fraternal visits to 3 other Lodges in Northern Virginia (see calendar below).  Fraternal visits are very important in Masonry, and an opportunity for each of us to expand our horizons, meet other Masons and learn from the work being done at other Lodges.  Make sure you contact our Lodge Ambassador, Bro. Will Nutter, to inquire any details about each visit – as he will be coordinating the groups and carpools as needed.

My Brothers, March is the month to leave the cold behind and start preparing for the colors of Spring, the warmer temperatures, longer days and a wide array of activities.  Herndon Lodge is getting prepared for that.  Let’s make the most of the several opportunities it has to offer.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Mauricio Carrasco, WM
