Brethren,

First of all, best wishes to you and your families for the Holidays and the New Year.

Thank you for allowing me the honor to serve in the East in 2013 as the Worshipful Master. Herndon Lodge has a long history of achievements and dedication from devout Masons, and it is a privilege for me and all the elected and appointed Officers to have been given this opportunity to serve and build up on top of such strong foundations.

The theme this year, “Masonry Always Constructive”, is precisely about that, about building up. About being constructive in our daily actions towards society, mankind and ourselves. Actions and approaches we are so frequently reminded and instructed during our several lessons in ritual and in Masonic education, but that at times we may neglect or leave overlooked. We are builders at heart, inherently inclined to constructive actions from the moment of our initiation, when we are taught to stand uprightly in the northeast corner of the Lodge, to the time when we reflect upon the depth of the words in our various obligations, and further beyond as we go through our personal Masonic journeys. This year we will keep building up, in as many aspects as we can, and I am thankful for the strong foundations the past leaders of Herndon Lodge have laid for us.

January will be a busy month. In addition to our two stated meetings (Jan 7th and Jan 21st), a called meeting will be held on Saturday, January 12th to confer the FC degree on some of the several candidates we currently have. On Wednesday, January 16th Herndon Lodge will be hosting the first District Ritual School of 2013 for District 4. In addition, we plan to conduct several fraternal visits to support our youth groups and other Lodges nearby. Please keep an eye in our calendar. On the administrative side, kindly remember that the 2013 dues have been mailed out. If you have not already done so, please make your payment as soon as possible. Please ensure also that we have your most current address, phone and email by contacting our Secretary and feeding him your updated information. Communications are fundamental for us to succeed, and this can only happen with your assistance. Help us in being constructive on this regard too.

With your help in this constructive approach, I am confident we will build an even better future for Herndon Lodge!

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Mauricio Carrasco, WM
