June 2012

Greetings from the East. Although the last month appeared to be relatively quiet, a couple of events were successfully completed. The first was another Master Mason Degree, expertly conducted by our Senior Warden brother Mauricio Carrasco (this was the best Master Mason degree he ever did) with the help of many of our brethren. Once again, thanks to all of you who helped.

Another great event was a Beehive Club meeting featuring a presentation on Virginia Masonic University. I feel really bad for not being able to attend that evening.

Now, not all events were great. Unfortunately we were forced to change the furnace in (above) our lodge room. This unavoidable repair caused us to spend over $5000 for lodge repairs. This caused a significant dent in our building fund, and even though RW W.O. Harrison has arranged the best possible deal, our building fund is significantly lighter. Therefore, I would like to ask all of you to help in replenishing our building fund so if the future circumstances require, we will be properly financially equipped to handle any surprises.

With these events behind us we are moving forward with our support to the upcoming Herndon Festival. I would like to use this opportunity to thank all of you that volunteered your time to support your lodge and this great event. Special thanks goes to brother Jim Butts and Will Nutter as well as brother Bob Tagg for organization and coordination.

Again, please note that the month of June will be busy. Our District Instructor of Work, RW Bob Williams will be making his official visit on our first stated and we will have a nice program on St. Johns on our second stated meeting. We are looking forward to see you all both at the festival as well as in the lodge. Also, we will be doing several degrees and please contact Brother Tom Morrison, our JW, if you would like to participate in a degree team.

Finally, a reminder to all officers that we are switching to our white tux attire for the first stated meeting and Master Mason degrees.
