Brethren
Herndon Lodge was well represented at Grand Lodge with fourteen Herndon Brothers taking part in one portion or another of the 233rd annual proceedings held in Richmond.
During the public section of Grand Lodge, Herndon was formally presented with the Grand Master’s DeMolay Sponsoring Body of the year award. Making the presentation were Brother Mike Williams (Virginia State DeMolay Executive Officer), Robert Marsters (Virginia State Master Councilor and member of Herndon Chapter) and Most Worshipful John Chambliss. The Award will stay at Herndon Lodge until next summer’s DeMolay Conclave. Thanks go out to Brothers Greg Valker (Chapter Chairman), Joe Tamres, Ivy Nye, and many others for their support of the Chapter.
Herndon Lodge was next recognized by the Grand Master as the recipient of the Get Fired Up Award in the Community category. Well over ½ of Herndon’s 50,000+ points for the program submission were garnered in this award category. This included items such as sponsoring a youth group, presenting a Community Builder Award, holding an open house, hosting a blood drive, and hosting a Child ID event. Thanks go out to Brothers Rob Martin (Blood Coordinator), Bob Tagg (CHIP Coordinator), all those that support our youth. , Thank you to Brother Mariano D’Aguiar and Brother Junior Warden Mauricio Carrasco for compiling all the required statistics.
At the Delegate’s Banquet, Right Worshipful Michael Pobat was afforded with a well deserved recognition. RW Pobat was a recipient of the Grand Master’s Award of Excellence for 2011 for his support of the Grand Master and District 4. Congratulations Brother!
At the final session of Grand Lodge, Herndon actually was missed during the reading of the Hillman Award winners. But, it was later confirmed with the Grand Secretary that this was indeed an oversight. Herndon will receive the actual award when new DDGM Ralph Smith makes his official visit to Herndon next year. Thanks go out to all the Brethren that attended a Fraternal Visit this year, donated a pint of blood, attended a Lodge function or trip or learned a part of the ritual – all these and more contributed to Herndon’s selection for this award. Thank you to Brother Senior Warden Adi Karisik and Wor. Rhey Solomon for compiling all the required statistics.
There were six resolutions presented. Three were approved, two defeated, and one withdrawn. More about the resolutions and the newly elected and appointed Grand Lodge officers can be found on the Grand Lodge website.
